Tis true, tis true! Too bad, so sad. MMA doesn’t need us any more (and we don’t need it?). It’s gone big time. The Simpsons and all that. You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, etc…nah mean? Might elaborate more in the future, but that’s all for now.
HOWEVER, we are definitely scheming on some new shit and if we’ve entertained you in the past, PLEASE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW US ON TWITTER: Twitter.com/OGMushSDS.

“How can it be that Rob Zombie’s Halloween was so dope and H2 was so awful? Oh, the finger aye?! Right back atcha buddy!”

Randomness A: Me thinks I may be over my obsession with MMA. Uh-oh, what now?
Randomness B: According to Jim Genia, there will be 2 underground MMA shows in NY next weekend…hmmm.
Randomness C: Our boy, The Fight Nerd, just re-done his site. Looks good…I think you should check it out here.
Randomness D: Our boy, Danny Knish, just launched his new site, Superpredictors.com. No MMA predictions Dannyboy?
Randomness E: Raekwon releases Cuban Linx 2 and folks RAVE. Eh…not so great IMO (even though I haven’t given it a “good listen”). Think it just speaks to how terrible hip-hop is nowadays. Not even close to the original Cuban Linx record (after which our Links page was named).
Randomness F: FU

Warren “Birds Shit on My Head” Piece

An oooooold school friend of ours, longtime Sicks Deep supporter and metal and alcohol enthusiast, Ziggy Something (he has a crazy last name), just opened up a new restaurant and bar down in the financial district entitled, The Iron Horse NYC. They’re throwing their grand opening party this Saturday night, 9-12-09. Go check that shit out yo (apparently they have a bunch of hot and “entertaining” female bartenders)!!!
The tail behind the Horse:
The Iron Horse NYC is a story of friendship, hard work and making dreams a reality.
For the past few years, Kim worked and managed Red Rock West. During that same time Ziggy became a fixture who loved to drink and party at this same bar. Angela had frankly never been to Red Rock West and was sick and tired of hearing about it. But, after it was shut down she wished another place existed that was as fun to Ziggy and the rest of their friends. With its doors closed, many of the staff and regulars, who had now all become friends, were immediately displaced. Over the next few months there were many fond discussions of the good ol’ days with a drink raised upwards at various other bars. They all wished for a place where anyone could come in, drop their guard, and quickly become one of the group of regulars.
One night over drinks, an idea was hiccuped that still sounded great the next morning after some aspirin. It took nearly a year of hard work from that fateful night, but as they say; the rest is history. That idea is now a reality and we are pleased to introduce The Iron Horse NYC!
At the Iron Horse NYC, the fine ladies behind the bar are the focal point of the place. Sure you can go into any ol’ bar for some drinks, but here you’ll be thoroughly entertained while you wet your whistle and kill your hunger.

War And Piece
Skipping right over the fact that we haven’t updated the site in a month…
On August 29th, NPC Figure Competitor and pal-of-ours, Katherynne “Kat” Ramirez, took first place in her class at the 2009 NPC North American Championships. This comes on the heels of her two back-to-back OVERALL wins last year. Congrats to her and great luck at the upcoming NPC Team Universe in NYC!
AND on the very same night, our boys Kelly Abe and Mike Zamir of Sicks Deep (Facebook/Myspace) took the stage again for the first time in a minute…but not together. KA performed guest vocals on the song “God is I” with New York Hardcore legends Merauder (at the Hook in BK) as Mike played guitar for Exodus vocalist, Rob Dukes’, side-project Dukes (at Olives in Nyack). As expected, they both kicked much ass!
Keep on with the kicking!

The winner’s caption: “Josh Barnett announced that he signed a lifetime contract with Condom Depot’s rival sponsor, Herpes.”

Lil Warren
Saturday, August 2, 2009. First ever New York Mixed Martial Arts Expo. Uniondale (Long Island), NY. Pouring rain…on and off. As I await the arrival of my friends, one of the most famous rappers in the world passes by me. I say, “What’s up Wayne?” He looks a bit confused, then nods. I had a camera and an iPhone on me, but couldn’t get a picture off. I wonder if I could have sold that picture. I wonder what it might be like to be that famous. My boys arrive. We enter the expo. Jens Pulver (pictured above with AMG) is in the cage in the middle of the room taking shots with fans. He’s energetic and a bit goofy. He refuses to take a picture with a straight face, which is the shit. There’s a sign in the cage that reads, “HELP LEGALIZE MMA IN NEW YORK”. It’s the only indicator of the day that this event has something expressly to do with assisting in the legalization of the sport here. I take a pic of Chuck Zito. I am informed by event organizers that Clay Guida will not be attending the expo as planned because his management, MMA Stop, would not allow it…which allegedly pisses off Silver Star. Sidebar: I believe Silver Star (who’s booth was dead throughout the event) could actually be the next big thing if they would go with their more innovative designs (I dig the Rich Franklin and Urijah Faber’s Tees) and scrap all that played-out skull shit and Affliction-rip-off crap. Jamie Varner hops from booth to booth, signing stuff and taking photos with fans. I take a pic of Tim Kennedy. My friends and I speak with Dan Ostrower of Manumission Fightceuticals. He sends us away with a big bag full of soap and other products. Dear Dan: If I end up beating someone to death with said bag of soaps, I believe you to be an accomplice. There. Fair warning. Big line to take pix with the great Andrei Arlovski. Huge line to take pix with Sean Sherk who was the last fighter to arrive (12:30-ish?). Then we bounced. I hear no demos were performed in the cage as advertised. Not sure why. Perhaps someone could shed some light on that subject. Thx to the organizers for holding this event. I believe the fans in attendance really appreciated the opportunity.
Check out my few pix from the event here. Oh, and here.

Warren “The Oldmanfaced Blogger” Piece
Below is an official statement from “The Babyfaced Assassin’s” representatives. But a word (or two) before you commence reading. First, please note that you heard/read it here first. Second, a thought: Much of the blame for Affliction MMA’s recent demise has been placed on Josh’s shoulders (much to Tom Atencio and Co.’s great relief). But what if banned substance allegations were not the reason for Josh’s inability to fight on August 1st? What if, instead, he had broken his leg in training? Would Affliction still have been so quick to fold the entire event and company (in my and many other’s opinion (including Fedor’s), Brett Rogers would have been a solid replacement)? Perhaps Affliction has been praying for such a scapegoat for some time now. Something to ponder (imagine that last sentence said in a Yoda voice).
Through his representatives, Josh Barnett has released the following statement:
The media has reported that Mixed Martial Arts Heavyweight fighter Josh Barnett would not be eligible to fight Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction Trilogy as he was denied his California license due to an alleged positive test for 2α-methyl-5α-androstan-3α-ol-17-one, which is purportedly a metabolite of a banned substance. Mr. Barnett was shocked at these allegations and was extremely disappointed to learn that Affliction had made the hasty decision to cancel the August 1st event in its entirety. Mr. Barnett vehemently denies intentionally ingesting any banned substances in preparation for the August 1st fight and he is looking forward to presenting his case to the California State Athletic Commission.
In the meantime, Mr. Barnett has yet to learn of the results of the B sample testing and he has not received any of the documentation that provides further details of the alleged positive sample despite numerous requests. In fact, the documentation that Mr. Barnett has received raises serious questions about the integrity of the sample and the validity of the results themselves.
At this time Mr. Barnett would like to thank his fans and colleagues for their ongoing support and faith in him. He intends to vigorously defend himself against these allegations and hopes for a swift resolution to this matter so he can get back to what he does best, fighting!
Further, a source close to Josh has said:
“Josh is as disappointed as the fans are that he will not be able to fight Fedor. He empathizes with the other fighters who were scheduled to fight on the card and shares their frustration and disappointment that the entire even was canceled.”

NYFS will be in the house; live-blogging/twittering/facebooking and just being on the phone in general (so if you can’t make the event, tune into this site…although you should really try to attend…this is all/mostly about promoting the legalization of the sport we love in the state we live in…and yes, I realize that the content within parenthesis should theoretically be shorter than that of the content outside of parenthesis, but I’m a fucking rebel yo!). Politics and grammar aside, this should be a great event for any MMA fan and a chance to meet, greet and take pix with some sick fighters (Jens Pulver, Andrei Arlovski, Clay Guida, Jamie Varner and Tim Kennedy to name a few). PLUS…this just in…Jean-Claude Van Damme’s arch-nemisis, Chuck Zito, will be making an appearance. For more, go here and we’ll see yous there.
